This lecture will touch on the global challenges to increase prosperity and improve human nutrition through research-based solutions in agriculture and the environment. There is global consensus that there are six key drivers of change impacting humanity all at once: population growth, environmental degradation, digital revolution, urbanization, climate change and biotech innovations. But there is less consensus on how to tackle such challenges and particularly how to do it collectively and on a sustained manner. The aim of the lecture is to motivate a new generation to get involved in international food and agriculture matters and particularly on the technical and institutional change aspects of those challenges.
Reception to follow.
